Top 5 Things to do in Isla Cozumel
Isla Cozumel has been renowned amongst locals and the global travel community as one of the top island destinations in the world. In addition to the incredible white sand beaches, coral reefs, there are also modern amenities and an enormous swath of wild areas to explore.
Now that you are here (or planning on getting here) what are some activities you want to make sure you carve into your itinerary? While this list is by no means exhaustive, here are my personal Top 5 Things to do in Cozumel.
1. SNORKEL
The waters in Cozumel are some of the best in the world. You certainly don’t want to regret missing on her greatest treasures. All of which require a mask and fins and you to get wet.
There are numerous snorkel spots scattered all over the perimeter of Isla Cozumel.
While you may be lost figuring out with which spots or reefs to explore, you will want a local guide to direct you in the right direction. You may get more information on which spots are best, depending on what you are looking for (turtles, rays, fish, shipwreck, etc) and water conditions here or Whatsapp below. Just mention Rudy sent you! 🙂
2. WALK AROUND SAN MIGUEL
The main town or centro of Cozumel is filled with cute boutique shops, cafes, ice cream palours, eateries and landmarks with a laid-back island vibe.
While here, head to the town square or zocalo with your ice cream, take a seat and people watch. Relax.
3. EL CIELO TOUR
While there are many tours you can take around Cozumel on a boat, one of my favourite tours on Cozumel is to El Cielo or “Heaven”. El Cielo is a part of the island accessible only by boat. Our captain pictured above responds to either Julio or Antonio Banderas. Good vibes all day long.
Arrive at El Cielo and snorkel the stunning clear waters littered with starfishes. Miniature rays will swim up to you as you swim in the water.

4. PUNTA SUR TOUR
The entire southern point of Cozumel island is a sprawling nature preserve known as Punta Sur. It one of the best places to see the island’s vast natural habitat. In addition to some of the most beautiful beaches on the island (bring your swimsuit!), there are also incredible mangrove marshlands for you to explore.
Punta Sur is a nature lovers dream. There is so much to explore at Punta Sur, be sure to get there early and bring some extra money for food and drinks at the beachside restaurants.

5. DAY AT A BEACH CLUB
The west side of Cozumel has incredible sparkling, turquoise waters and numerous beautiful beaches.
When visiting the island, there are several fantastic beach clubs where visitors have access to sandy beaches, swimming pools, oceanfront restaurants, beach bars, sun loungers, water activities and more.
While they typically range in cost from $10 USD to $65 USD per person, the pricier options are all-inclusive with drinks and food.
